Anthracite can evaluate a wide range of domestic and offshore investments in both securities collateralized by commercial mortgage loans and in direct loans. Anthracite has been an active buyer of subordinated commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) and unsecured REIT debt. Collateral types considered are listed below:

• Commercial (all types)
• Multifamily
• Hotel
• Residential (pooled)
• Land and development

We emphasize second lien and acquisition finance but may consider first lien opportunities as well. Individual loan opportunities considered are normally larger than $5 million in principal balance. There is no limit on the loan-to-value ratio, performance history, lien status, final maturity or geographic location that can be considered. We will work both on a principal basis or in partnership with other investors. Anthracite typically co-invests in such direct loans through Carbon Capital Funds, private real estate debt fund managed by BlackRock Financial Management, Inc., the external manager of Anthracite.
