Transition Management

The BlackRock Transition Management team was a pioneer of this service, launching its comprehensive, stand-alone transition management capability in 1993. We aim to provide a comprehensive transition management service that is tailored to the needs and circumstances of each individual client. The principal objective we share with all our clients is to reduce the potential costs and manage the risks that can arise in a transition exercise.

We are committed to providing the highest level of client service and to maintaining our position as the leading transition manager through continual investment in our people and systems. The team possesses the full range of skills necessary for delivering successful transitions, including expertise in project management, custody, trading strategy, trade analytics and risk management.

We do not advocate a rigid strategy nor believe that transition management is a generic product. Instead, our philosophy reflects our belief that clients require a flexible service built on a proven process and risk management systems that can be adapted as appropriate to suit specific client needs, prevailing market conditions, or any unforeseen circumstances. This flexibility allows us to accelerate or slow down the transition in the light of market conditions. Each transition is unique, and as a transition manager, we are able to provide the most cost effective strategy by combining the trade and execution skills of our joint venture partner, Merrill Lynch, with our ability to deal with other market counterparties in order to achieve best execution.
